Summary:

We are in the process of transforming learning at McCain.  Our vision is to create a culture of continuous learning that promotes individuals and teams to build future-ready skills and makes learning easy to access, consume and apply.

 

We are looking for an experienced, innovative and passionate Director, Global Learning to build and lead our Global Learning Team.   By collaborating with Functional and Regional Learning Partners across the business, this role will develop a common strategy and framework for building capability across all of McCain.  The goal is to embed the critical skills needed to deliver on our Rising Star business strategy and create the conditions that enable a “development obsessed“ culture – one where employees are empowered to continuously learn, adapt and grow.

Job Description:

Based out of the Global head office in Toronto, the Director, Global Learning has overall responsibility of the global learning strategy for McCain.

The Director, Global Learning is responsible for collaborating with the business lines to drive a comprehensive learning strategy and build a culture of continuous learning.

 

Reporting directly to this role are the Senior Manager, Learning Technology and Senior Manager, Global Commercial Capability and indirectly, the Learning & Development Specialist.

 

As our Director, Global Learning, you will:

  • Develop the strategy that enables a transformation in learning at McCain and realizes the vision to “create a culture of continuous learning that promotes individuals and teams to build future-ready skills and makes learning easy to access, consume and apply”.
  • Establish the common framework for building capability across the enterprise, leading the business to deliver the best learner experience possible, leveraging digital solutions and modern approaches to personalize learning programs and integrate learning in the flow of work.
  • Define, implement and sustain the global learning operating model in partnership with Region, Function and other Global Learning Leaders.
  • Establish an effective governance structure, with clear standards, roles and responsibilities, rules of engagement and decision-making rights for Learning Leaders across McCain.
  • Assess organizational capability needs in partnership with key stakeholders; use input to prioritize the allocation of resources and as input into the development of the organizational skills strategy.
  • Source and manage centralized resources and/or outside suppliers; where appropriate lead contract negotiations and support contract management.
  • Work with Global Communications to design and implement marketing and communications plans for new and ongoing learning programs.
  • Design and implement change management strategies that increase user adoption of new learning programs and platforms while enabling a culture of learning at McCain.
  • Assess and analyze the efficiency of learning and development programs; establish metrics and reporting to communicate the impact of learning programs.
  • Define the learning technology roadmap; implement through project teams; sustain through partnership with the Global Learning Champions and HR Technology team.
  • Build a winning team environment and implement a talent strategy that attracts, retains, develops and motivates the team by fostering an inclusive work environment; communicating vison/values/business strategy and managing succession and development planning for the team.

As our Director, Global Learning, you have:

  • At least 10 years of progressive experience in learning and development; preferably working in global organizations
  • Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 3 years of experience with modern learning technology
  • Advanced knowledge of the Degreed learning experience platform (LXP) an asset
  • Minimum 3-5 years of people leadership experience
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage, influence, and inspire partners and stakeholders to drive collaboration and alignment
  • Strong project management, organizational and follow-up skills when presented with multiple priorities in a fast-paced and global environment.
  • Experience working in a changing environment with ambiguous conditions, dealing with both internal and external customers, including cross-functional teams.
  • Proven track record of delivering data driven solutions with a customer-first mindset
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with senior colleagues and other COEs and HR areas to ensure the design of aligned, scalable and integrated solutions.

Other Information:

  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs
  • Travel: as required
  • Job is primarily performed in a standard office environment but working from home an option upon agreement with Manager & McCain Policies
